Overview

Clinician’s Brief supports veterinary professionals in their most relevant practice challenges with brief, trusted information on essential topics—from drugs and therapeutics and clinical skills to the changing dynamics of practice life and pet owner relationships. Curated by practicing veterinarians, Clinician’s Brief offers digital and print resources, including practical long-form content, research reviews, and daily quizzes and videos—all designed to surround and support veterinary professionals through every stage of their careers.

Editorial Integrity

The trust of the veterinary community is integral in the fulfillment of the Clinician’s Brief mission to guide the most critical decisions in veterinary practice. Clinician’s Brief earns and maintains this trust through strict adherence to a code of editorial integrity. To prevent undue influence in the creation of Clinician’s Brief content, materials are determined, generated, and edited solely by a staff of veterinary officers and medical editors. Organic content (ie, independent, unpaid material) is not accepted from or influenced by advertisers, manufacturers, or other external industry parties.

Authors & Contributor Selection

Authors are selected based on their clinical experience and understanding of the material to be drafted. To protect all parties, authors are not to be affiliated with industry partners or sponsors. Authors contributing clinical content must be ABVS (American Board of Veterinary Specialties or European/Australian equivalent) board-certified veterinary specialists or co-authoring with a board-certified veterinary specialist.

Prior to authorship, contributors must provide any disclosure or conflict of interest. Content is closely evaluated by the editorial team to identify and aim to eliminate bias. Any potential bias will be disclosed to the Clinician’s Brief audience in a visible, appropriate manner.

All content is to be original to the Clinician’s Brief brand. Authors are directed to write original content when called upon to contribute. Any plagiarism, including text recycling or autoplagiarism, will negate the opportunity to publish with VetMedux properties.

Peer & Internal Review

The resources created for Clinician’s Brief are intended to be accurate and useful in veterinary practice and in veterinary professional development. Clinical content in Clinician’s Brief undergoes a rigorous review process—an anonymized peer review in tandem with an internal review—to ensure content is evidence-based, scientifically valid, and practical for those delivering veterinary care.

Unsolicited Content

Clinician’s Brief does not accept unsolicited content. If, however, authors are eager to share ideas for consideration of inclusion in Clinician’s Brief, they are encouraged to contact Clinician’s Brief to discuss the potential topic and format.

Discontinued Content

On occasion, editors may elect to discontinue the production of a topic or article in various stages of the writing process. This decision will not be an easy one and may be a result of a number of potential grounds, including but not limited to: unsuccessful routing through peer review, incongruous pairing of topic and content type or format, unplanned shift of topic or intended focus, or discovery that content has been previously published elsewhere.
